Exercise To Music is a great way to earn a living or an extra income with the added bonus of staying fit and healthy. Here at GXT we make learning to teach ETM quick and simple with our online qualification. If however you need a further helping hand we have regional mentors who will help you gain the practical skills needed to teach professionally. We offer two training options:

  1. Full qualification for the general public
  2. 2 unit option for anyone with a current Level 2 qualification

What can you do with an ETM Qualification?

The Active IQ Certificate in Fitness Instruction (ETM) is at Level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. It also provides access onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2. This qualification is perfect for anyone wanting to teach Group Exercise Classes including Les Mills and Zumba. It is an online Exercise to Music qualification which means that you can study in your own time and in the comfort of your home or office. GXT fully support our students, our whole team including assessors and internal verifiers actively teach classes.

The Exercise to Music Course Qualification is ideal for:

  • Anyone wanting to teach Group Exercise Classes
  • Zumba Instructors wanting to teach other classes
  • Anyone wanting to teach Les Mills, Insanity, Fit Steps

What happens next?

  • Once booked you will receive confirmation of your course and a welcome email introducing you to the GXT ETM team
  • You then proceed directly to the Active IQ platform for online learning packed with interactive information and quiz sheets
  • When ready to sit your exams we find a local GXT invigilator
  • You complete your Learner Achievement Portfolio (LAP) for final submission including worksheets and lesson plans
  • You provide a DVD for your teaching assessment

Exercise to Music Course Qualification Structure:

This qualification comprises 6 units:

  • Unit 1 – Anatomy and physiology for exercise
  • Unit 2 – Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
  • Unit 3 – Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
  • Unit 4 – Principles of exercise, fitness and health
  • Unit 5 – Planning group exercise to music sessions
  • Unit 6 – Instructing group exercise to music sessions

Successful achievement of all six units must be achieved for the full qualification.

 

 

Assessment:

  • Unit 1 – Anatomy & Physiology worksheet
  • Unit 2 – Client Interview & Worksheet
  • Unit 3 – Worksheet
  • Unit 4 – Principles of Health & Fitness worksheet
  • Unit 5 – Worksheet or Professional Discussion, PARQ, Activity Session Plan x 2
  • Unit 6 – Worksheet, Observed Summative Assessment via DVD, Session and Self Evaluation

Full qualification – Successful achievement of all six units must be achieved

2 unit option – Successful achievement of units 5 (planning) & 6 (instructing) must be achieved

 

Your practical class is via a DVD submission, you will film a 60 minute class including 5 – 12 people.

FULL QUALIFICATION – There are no specific pre-requisite qualifications, but there is an element of discussing, presenting, reading and writing involved and learners should have basic skills in communication.

2 UNIT OPTION – You can complete the 2 specific ETM units in planning and instructing group exercise if you currently hold a level 2 qualification with the following units:

Mandatory Units

  • Unit 1 – Anatomy and physiology for exercise
  • Unit 2 – Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
  • Unit 3 – Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
  • Unit 4 – Principles of exercise, fitness and health

You will need to submit a copy of your Level 2 certificate.

This is the industry standard qualification for adults (aged 16+) wishing to pursue a career either in the health and fitness sector or a community setting .

16 to 18 year-olds may need to be supervised in the workplace, once they have achieved the qualification
