Your full teacher training manual and suggested texts will allow you to indulge the diverse and exciting world of traditional yoga. We fully prepare you to understand and teach the 8 limbs of yoga, historical Sanskrit terminology with history of yoga asana through to implementing stability (sthira) and ease (sukha) in the complete unification of breath (pranayama), focus (drishti) and movement (asana) to create beautiful flowing sequences (vinyasa). We have different tutors providing different experiences in breathing, meditation, bandhas, mudras ( please see full course content below).
This forms the core of your study and will be at the forefront throughout. You will leave the diploma qualification as a fully qualified yoga teacher.
Freestyle Fitness Yoga is a completely modern approach to teaching yoga. It integrates knowledge of anatomy, physiology, new and exciting interpretations of breath work and core with communication to a modern Zeitgeist eager to model yoga into their every day lifestyles in our very fast moving and technical society. This module is studied online under constant supervision of creator Jayne Nicholls. You are encouraged to open a dialogue with Jayne and discuss your thoughts and feelings throughout the course. This part of the diploma is the biggest challenge as you will question EVERYTHING. The result is that you walk away with information that you understand and are confident sharing rather simply passing on received wisdom.

Any fans of ITV’s Doc Martin will recognise John Marquez as PC Penhale, Jayne takes him through an 8 day journey into yoga with all information transferable into your classes. Here you get to see first hand how Jayne teaches a novice the sun salutations, yoga postures and mindful practice.
When you are ready to start teaching you will have a library of videos to refer to from beginner to advanced instruction. We would never have the time to provide you with this amount of content in our live training days. The beauty of the online process is that you can dip in and out of these workshops depending on your experience in face to face teaching.
You will be given a free class pass to take part in all classes at the GXT Online Studio for the first month of your course. This will help you to experience exactly how the course information translates into practical teaching. We provide many different styles of class and approach each subject with sound teaching skills.
Behind the scenes, while you are working away in the comfort of your own home, we are (relaxing & doing yoga) here to chat or email when you are feeling excited, troubled, exasperated, elated – any one of the whole gamut of emotions that we experience when learning to teach the very thing that we love to practice.
You can complete in 6 months however we advise a guideline of 10 – 12 months for full immersion into your study and teaching practice.

Day 1 – Overview of course and learning materials. Freestyle Fitness Yoga and asana practice. teaching skills, language and communication.
Day 2 – Workbook overview. We are custodians of yoga, no one owns it, but what is its rich and varied history and background? an historical perspective of yoga, and asana analysis: We explore the background and history of yoga, key perspectives, practices and texts, and notable exponents.We analyse asana in terms of their possible benefits, their planes of movement, the joints and muscles involved, and how to regress, progress, and adapt the asana, along with the use of teaching aids
Day 3 – Breathing Bandhas, Mudras, Meditation: We consider the role of breath practice in yoga and experience different breathing techniques. The use of locks, seals and gestures is put into perspective and we explore different methods of meditation and mindfulness.
Day 4– Class planning and practical application of yoga. Student teaching practice.
Throughout your online study, you will be invited to all masterclasses and workshops hosted by Jayne Nicholls and will have zoom links to past content.
Jayne is owner/director of GXT, creator of the Freestyle Yoga brands and a somewhat reluctant Yogi. She has taught group exercise for over 25 years with 17 dedicated to Yoga.
Every day it pulls me in a little deeper! I will always retain my love of moving to music and this is my key teaching style which is why I often smile to myself as I OM. I love mixing what I know about the human body with traditional aspects of yoga. It is this modern approach that makes our YTT both unique and successful.
Di is truly 1 in 1 million. Her dedication to the learning process on our yoga diploma is so welcomed by our students. She is both lead tutor and assessor, you will see her on our online guidance and she is on hand to help you throughout. Di does not post bios, she is not on social media, she is Di who walks her own path in her own way and GXT are privileged to have her on our team.
Peter teaches Yin Yoga, he has found his place in the yoga teaching community with this intelligent and peaceful method. He is a lifelong teacher and all round wonderful human being. We accept approved prior learning (APL) from students who have previously completed relevant parts of the course.
Students receive a home study pack designed to encourage research into the key areas of teaching Yoga. During completion of this study we ask you to develop an idea of the kind of yoga instructor that you would like to be. Once you are confident in the areas that you would like to focus, we then offer you further study, specific to your needs
